The Main Biome

The Garden of Eden

This is where your character will first wake up. While asleep, they are raised from under the pond to the surface via a large water lily. Their items lie in the grass on the shore. Eden is a flowery meadow, about the square footage of a large house, surrounded by overloaded fruit trees. A stream cuts through the meadow and fills a pond the size of a swimming pool with icy, clear water. Frogs, deer, rabbits and squirrels inhabit the area, although there may also be wild predators afoot. It's an ecologist's dream and nightmare at all once - the terrain shouldn't be able to sustain so many different sorts of fruit trees, and yet it does.

Mordor

Yes, like the books, although not quite as large. Mordor's valley is taken up by an expanse of volcanic rock, flanked on three sides by towering mountains that go several thousand feet up in elevation. A volcano, now dormant, and a lake sit in the valley. The mountain ranges to the north and west have very fertile soil, and the mountains in the west press up against the Edge of the World. The unusual layout of Mordor would make it a fitting sanctuary for refugees from a battle. The little natural vegetation there is is coarse and inedible, and the only animal life appears to be insects and arachnids. This link has details on the geography.

Also, the eye of Sauron stares at you accusingly, like a mother who expects you've been sexting with your cell phone.

The Fire-Swamp

A foggy, humid swamp, filled with quicksand traps and holes in the ground that shoot fire. Roots, puddles and the natural danger of the terrain makes travel difficult. Some of the trees are practically large and tall enough to be hollowed out and turned into hotels.Visibility borders on impossible in some parts. God only knows what type of animals one might find here.

The Tower

The tower is a white, perfectly cylindrical skyscraper right in the center of the center of the biome. It goes up into the clouds - the top is not visible from the ground. On the first floor, it appears to be a typical doctor's office lobby. The area looks pristine, everything in white. Computers sit off to the side, but they are password-locked. There are no elevators, but hidden behind locked doors is an emergency maintenance staircase. There is a megaphone at the front desk which can be used to transmit messages across the biome.

Floors higher up are locked, but once broken into reveal complex computer set-ups and assembly machines for the Pink Smock Ladies. Ask the mods about discovering these areas!

The Edge of the World

The Edge of the World is the walls of the gigantic dome that makes up the center of the biome. These walls are opaque and reflective, perfect mirrors, and go up as high as the characters can see. They cannot be punched through, even by characters with enhanced strength. There has to be another way out.

The Haunted Town

A town of about thirty buildings that seems dated out of colonial America. It's run-down and unkempt, but unlike other areas, there isn't the same extent of rot and decay that's destroyed entire buildings and reduced paper to dust. It seems to have been used in the last few decades. There are occasionally ghosts.

The Forest

A vast expanse of oak forest that takes up several miles. As the biome undergoes seasonal changes, the leaves change color. Some rivers cut through the forest, including one large waterfall near the Edge of the World. Deer, foxes, and other North American woodland creatures can be found here, but there are no bears. Some of the trees go so high up that you can't see where they end.

The Quarry

A vast red rock quarry with cliffs and stunning views. Clay and berry bushes can be found here.

The Boiling Rock

Located inside the Quarry, a respectably-sized lake fed by hot springs and an island in the center. The water is hot enough to be boiling, and the air around here is very humid with the steam. There appears to be a building on the island, but it's run down and caved in, and good luck getting to it.

Queensland

North of the forest, there's a terrifying castle...

The Lake and the Stoneship Age

North of the forest, one of the rivers empties into a large, still lake. There are hints that living people were once here...

The Rail System

The underground rail system goes under the entire biome. Doors to various 'stations' can be found by uncovering manholes. The stations are white rooms leading to long tunnels; a map made of red and blue lights will appear on the floor. Cars are egg-shaped and white and travel several hundred miles per hour. They are activated by thought and do not move unless all limbs are inside the car.

Currently operational stations: The Tower, The Garden of Eden, The Quarry, The Edge of the World, foothills of Mordor, the waterfall, various points along the river.
