How do I submit a plot or suggest a location?
We have some quick and easy forms to fill out and email to the mods in our plot post here.
How do I hiatus?
We have a hiatus post you comment on here. The IC mechanism is that DOTTIE takes your character back to be 'recalibrated', which involves inducing a coma-like state in your character at one of the sealed gel vats at the Tower. Other characters may visit them and yell at them to wake up, but it will be to no avail. There is, however, a way the characters can reach through a glove and hold your character's hand. The Pink Smock Ladies will tend to them. Your character will wake up in the in the lotus blossom back in Eden when they are unhiatused.
Your hiatus may be indefinite; we understand RL comes first. However, if you are on hiatus for many months on end, we may contact you to ask you if you still have time for the game.
How do I drop?
You comment to our drop post here. The IC mechanism for this is either indefinite recalibration at the Tower, or character death if you wish to thread that out. Just let us know.
If you drop and wish to return, just let the mods know, and if necessary fill out a canon update/power update form.
Can I kill my character?
Yes! Please just let us know if you plan to do so, and if you're threading it out label the thread for character death. Dead means dead in Winter, so be aware that there is no resurrection and the character cannot be apped back in by another player.
Can I canon update my character? What about their powers?
Yes, you can! Just fill out the form here.
Is there a network?
As of yet, there is no network system in Winter. This can change if the mods are presented with a reasonable explanation for how one would be instated. However, even the most tech-savvy character apped here will be working with the biome's limited technology, unfamiliar coding and lack of raw materials. These circumstances might change in the future, depending on how the plot goes.
To get a message across great distances, the characters have several options, including but not limited to smoke signals, asking DOTTIE to relay a message for them, or using a megaphone on the third floor of the Tower.
What does it mean, my character is humanized?
All characters are baseline living humans. Their powers are retained in the biomes, for reasons the characters will discover. They do not, however, have to believe they are humans or even look like them to their fellows. For example, an elf character would, despite having the physiology of a human, retain any supernatural ability within the biome as well as cosmetic differences, such as pointed ears or a musical voice. There is a limit to these differences, however - your character will not look like a pony to other characters simply because ungulates move so differently from humanoids.
Outside the biome, the cosmetic differences - such as pointed ears - would disappear.
This also means if your character is 700 years old in canon, they are not actually 700 years old in the game. They can still, however, believe they are.
What are the rules on fourth-walling/canon puncturing?
If both players are happy to do it, go for it. Just don't spring it on anyone.
What are the rules for activity check?
Activity check is one thread per character for every two month period. If you do not respond to activity check within a week of the beginning of the AC period, you will be dropped from the communities. You can, however, return at any point.
If an individual character does not pass activity check, we request you consider how much time you devote to them. If a character does not pass activity check twice, we request you drop them.
If none of your characters pass activity check and you aren't on hiatus, we request that you return them in phases, one per month.
Can I play with myself?
We allow you to thread with yourself. However, these threads cannot count for activity check.

Are OCs allowed?
Yes! Give us your OCs! We love both fandom and non-fandom OCs!
If apping a canon OC, be aware that we do not allow handwaved CR with the characters from the canon, as this is 'surprise CR' that the existing canon characters' players may not like. So, for example, we would not allow Draco Malfoy's long-lost twin sister, as it godmodes the Draco Malfoy player into having a twin sister he never talks about.
Are AU's allowed?
Yes! For more details, see our app page.
What items can my character bring with them?
A set of clothing, belongings that your character finds very dear, and any iconic items you want should be included in your application. We can't guarantee that we'll let your character bring everything with them, but it can't hurt to ask. Also, some of your items will only work inside the biome - we'll let you know what those items are.
Can my character have pets?
Yes! Your character can keep pets from their canon or prior games, or acquire pets in the game. As a note, though, fantastical pets will need to be run past the moderators and will not be fantastical outside the biome.
Is there an age limit to the character I can app?
The only limit is that your character must have a means of supporting themselves, whether that is by their own means or by a castmate who's agreed to support them. So, for example, if you want to app a baby, you better have someone on hand to keep them from dying of exposure.
If your character is over the lifespan of a normal human, they may believe themselves to be millennia old, but they will be physically the age they appear.
Can my character get sick?
Yes! In fact, DOTTIE may expose them to viruses and bacteria for the sheer purpose of bolstering their immune system.
What about characters with chronic disease? Fatal illnesses? Major disabilities in canon?
None of these technically exist, though in the case of physical disabilities it's left up to player discretion within the bounds of the biomes. Prosthetics will be maintained as shown in canon unless a player wishes otherwise -- Edward Elric can still have his automail, but Artie (from GLee) may opt to be able to walk once he's awoken in Winter.
He may also still believe he is paraplegic, and find that his body reacts/acts in the way he expects based on what memory tells him is true.
Illnesses are in fact cured, pending they're physical. Again, characters expecting to suffer from side-effects related to a chronic disease or illness may "give" themselves the signs of this illness (coughing, weakness, whatever manifestations they expect to have), but DOTTIE has ensured everyone is awoken at peak health for purposes of her directive. She probably won't bother informing anyone, and the mind (and memory) is a powerful trickster.
Can I RP pregnancy here?
You may, and this is ICly encouraged by DOTTIE. However, we request that for the sake of realism, pregnancy take at least 9 months OOCly. We understand RPing pregnancy for a year and a half OOCly is draining, so we've cut it to this timeframe, with the IC explanation that DOTTIE wants to increase fertility and thus accelerates fetal development with her nanites.
Can I RP smut here?
Yes, with the appropriate warnings and if both players are 18 or older. Please leave smut behind a cut for those of us browsing at work, and lock it to the community.
What do I need warning labels for?
Please appropriately label any sexual or violent situations as such and put them behind a cut. Please trigger-warn for sexual assault, incest, child abuse, torture and character death. Anything else can be left to your discretion, but use your best judgment.
What is the time ratio?
Nothing too strict, but generally assume that one day IC time takes one and a half to two days OOC time.
Is DOTTIE always watching?
Inside the biome, it's best to assume DOTTIE is always watching.

Also, what happens to his things, or is he weaponless?

His motorcycle and weapons will function outside the biome. They might be slightly toned down, though (for example, the coil gun probably won't be able to blast nuclear warheads out of the sky) but they should mostly function as normal.

We do have a mechanism for teleportation, but it's not instantaneous. Basically, the character has to actually travel the distance, although they do it at a much quicker speed than a normal human, and then the time it took to travel that far is deleted from everyone's minds to give the illusion of instantaneous teleporting. So, the further the distance, the more time everyone loses. If Xellos believes he is using the Astral Plane, it'll feel like it normally does to him.
